Measuring Big??!!!

So, I know that every pregnancy is different and I've been told that with each subsequent child you are likely to start showing sooner. Well I definitely fell into that category as I was in my maternity clothes this go round at 10 weeks, lol! Well it seems that within the past 2 weeks I have gotten HUGE!! I mean I was falling into that being larger due to the 2nd pregnancy thing already but EVERYONE was commenting on me being big. (By the way folks, you should really keep those comments to yourself!!

So anyway, Ryan and I go the midwife appt yesterday for our 22W visit and she of course asks me how I'm doing. Well I tell her that I just feel big. I mean this belly has grown crazy these last few weeks and I feel like its getting in the way already and Ive got 18 more weeks to go. She listens and then lays me back and measures my uterus. Now for those that don't know this is where the feel for the bottom of the uterus and the top and then take a tape measure to see how many cm it is. Now the general rule is that you should be measuring the number of weeks you are. So I should have been measuring 22cm, but what did I measure??....

25 Freakin WEEKS!!!!! 3 weeks then I am supposed to be. Now I knew I was alot larger than I looked but that really confirmed it. Now, we know that there is only 1 baby inside. We've had enough ultrasounds (4 now) that if it was twins they would have definitely seen them by now. My weight gain is on target, maybe a pound or 2 off course, so that definitely couldn't explain for how measuring big. Which left two other options....1)Gestational diabetes or 2) This is just a big baby. Option 2 is what I think as we're not even claiming number 1. Now the midwife bless her heart didn't really want to tell me what I was measuring because she isn't concerned about. She said that baby could have just had a growth spurt and that eventually it will even out. I'm not concerned either really but I have the type of personality that I've just got to know WHY?

So in 4 weeks at our next appt if I'm still measuring large then they'll do an ultrasound and we'll also go ahead and do the glucose tolerance test for gestational diabetes. So we'll see...but until then I guess I'll just have to deal with the looks of "You're kidding me!!" when I tell them I'm only 5.5 months :)

Halloween 2009!!

I know I am so late on these but we had a wonderful time for Halloween this year. First off, earlier in the day we went to the pumpkin patch and let Ethann and my niece pick out their own pumpkins. My little brother Glenn even came and joined us. (He's a big time sophomore at App State so we were pleasantly surprised when he came and joined us:) )

We also got some really great pics out of our trip one of which we blew up and now have hanging in the house. So here are a few from the pumpkin patch.

After the pumpkin patch the kids took a nap and we got the costumes on. E was a little cranky because he had a late nap and didn't really want to get his costume on...but he eventually warmed up!! So here is my little SUPERMAN!!!!

And my niece...the punk rock Queen!!

Of course it was raining..

And yes even Superman need to cover his head in the cold rain!! (Mom, I know you would be so proud to hear me say this!! :0)

And E loved his flashlight!! Thank to his Yaya and Papi for sending it all the way from Florida!!

It was such a wonderful day. Ethann is old enough now where he actually understands what is going on and he gets so excited which in turn gets me excited. Everything is so new again through the eyes of my child...I love it!!
Stay tuned as we are going to DISNEY WORLD this week! So we should have lots of great pics from that adventure!!

20 Weeks Baby!!!! and Noodle's Prayer

Well, I officially hit 20 weeks yesterday...we're halfway there!!! I can't believe how fast the time has flown seen we officially started telling people. We went for our 18W ultrasound and the baby looked great!! Heartbeat was 151 and all organs were there and in check...thank you Lord!!

We had the technician look and she said that it was clearly one sex or the other :) BUT we didn't find out just as we said we didn't want to. She did give us pictures but she said that she made sure that you couldn't see anything on them. When she handed them to us she said "So don't let anyone tell you they see a penis" !! Ha!!! So does that mean there isn't one and that it's a girl or there is one but you made sure to not put them in there??? Ryan and I were both analyzing the heck out of her comments to see if she slipped and said something that was a clue, lol!!

We also took Ethann so he could see his Noodle. He really wasn't that interested in the pictures that were showing up on the screen, but he was sure enough interested in all the goo that the ultrasound technician was spreading on my belly. He kept looking at the ultrasound wand like "What are you doing to my Mommy!!" It really was too cute!

Speaking of cute...I just have to say Ethann is so cute as a big brother. Every night he says his "Noodle Prayer". He calls it that because he has a book of prayers and there is a picture of a little boy with his baby sister. He says the baby is Noodle (by the way Ethann calls Noodle a girl...so we'll see!!) and has deemed that prayer is Noodle prayer. At the end of the prayer (which he says alll by himself I remind you) he'll lean down and kiss my belly and say "Goodnight Noodle, I'm your big brother". I tell you I almost cry every night!! So, here's Noodle's Prayer:

Thank you Lord for bread and meat

Thank you Lord for friends I meet

Thank you for my Mom and Dad

Thank you for the love I have

Thank you for my work and play

Thank you for another the day

Amen

May God bless and keep Noodle :)

Happy Birthday Mommy...

Well, first of all, let me say thank you for all the wonderful birthday wishes!! A special thanks to my little Ethann who made his Mommy feel so special. So, most of you who have met Ethann knows that he has a very extensive vocabulary and LOVES to talk. I mean it is non-stop from the time he wakes up till the time he goes to sleep!

Well yesterday, as he is laying beside me (somehow he ends up in our bed by morning), Ryan whispers to him that today is my birthday. He doesn't believe it... "It's not Mommy's birthday!" Well these comments continue for most of the morning until I drop him off at school. His teacher says, "Oh it's your Mommy's birthday?" "No, it's not her birthday" was E's response. So, I'm like whatever, birthday's aren't that big of a deal to me anyway.

Fast forward to when I pick him up from daycare and what has my wonderful boy made for me...a beautiful card with his handprints and sprinkled with glitter and the words Happy BDAY! Well, I say "I thought it wasn't Mommy's birthday" and he says "Mommy you're silly, of course it's your birthday!" As if I'm the crazy one! :)

Later on that night as he tries to wake from his sleepy stupor so I can tell him good night, I lean down and give him a kiss and tell him I love him and before I leave the room I hear, "Happy Birthday Mommy".

I melted...I love you Bubba :)

Which brings me to another point....

For all you multiple kids Mamas out there...did you get bigger a little quicker with your subsequent children?? I mean I was just hoping I could get through the first trimester without someone asking was I pregnant! I know I started off probably 10-15 lbs heavier than I was before I got pregnant with Ethann but still.... I look at 13 weeks like I did at 17 weeks with E. Crazy, crazy. I'm trying to keep the weight gain in check with this pregnancy because I gained over 50 lbs with Ethann. It was a lot of water because I was seriously swollen. I mean ankles or cankles as mine were called as there was no distinction between my calfs and my ankles :( but still. I'm already 10 lbs heavier add another gigantic baby gain and the postnatal outlook is looking a little cloudy. Although, I did already tell Ryan that he needed to go ahead and start budgeting in a trainer so I can lose this baby weight come next June.

Every baby is different....

and that can't be more true!! With Ethann I was just nauseous. Now mind you I was sick from sun up to sun down but I never threw up. This baby...man oh man!! Not only have I thrown up but I've got acid reflux that is unbelievable! Add that to this taste, and yes it is a bad taste, that I can't seem to get rid of and the lack of energy and I AM THROUGH!!! I keep waiting for the 2nd trimester calm to kick in since I am 13 weeks as of yesterday. Hopefully soon though cause it is taking it's toll. Ryan keeps picking on me saying he wishes he could take my symptoms because he would just keep it moving and be a trooper! Uhhh yeah right...he's home "sick"now due to some stomach thing, so I can just imagine him trooping through having morning sickness :)

So everybody keep praying that this first trimester booby trap will slowly dissipate and I can enjoy everything going on...

Well Here we go AGAIN!!!

We, or rather I should say I, have come into the age of blogging! I am so excited and think this will force me to document our lives and the wonderful blessings we receive daily. And speaking of blessings.... the Burkett family will be adding a new addition come April!!!

That's right folks we're pregnant with #2 or Noodle as big brother Ethann refers to the baby. Here are a few pics of our newest little one as he/she has been growing. The bottom picture is Noodle at 6 weeks and the top picture is the baby at a little over 11weeks. It's amazing how much they change. I mean in just 4 weeks Noodle went from a blinking blimp to a baby. Look he/she's even sucking their thumb!!! Just precious....love it!
And if you're wondering why I keep saying he/she, well it's still too early to tell. They could have tried at the 11 week ultrasound but we decided that this go round we are NOT going to find out the sex. We want it to be a big surprise!! Well that's what we're saying right now, lol!! So only time will tell!!!
For those who have been with us on this journey, know that Ryan and I have been trying for another baby for awhile now (over a year...16 months to be exact, lol!!) and so this is a Clomid baby for us. Thank God for the miracles of medicines :) I do thank God though for blessing us with this child in due time. We had a plan on when we thought WE wanted a baby, but He had other plans
